Send more black missionaries to Sweden. We need them!

Heard an interesting discussion on the radio today.

The number of practicing Christians in the rich, white, European countries is decreasing. While the total number Christians is increasing in the world.
The increase is taking place in a belt along the equator, around the world i.e. in Africa, Asia and South America.
According to the reporter 2,5 Billion people are Christians in the world today.

The reporter was introducing a thesis, that the rich western world had made themselves independent of God and Christianity. While the poor people in the developing countries still need God to get comfort.
This Swedish reporter had probably not been to many countries around the equator and most likely not visited many churches in these regions. Because if he had, he had also known that these countries has big middle and upper-class’ and a lot of these not poor, and many times well educated people, are accepting Christ in the ongoing revival in these countries. I know, because I have been there and I was one of them!

There was a black African pastor interviewed in the radio program. He had been practicing in Sweden for some years. He told a story about how missionaries from Sweden came to his country and saved people, many years ago. How he was saved and later became a pastor. He had heard that Sweden was a Christian country. The first time he visited Sweden he was very surprised to find out, that the churches were almost empty.
For some reason he had stayed on in Sweden. Now he is a Black ”missionary”, in the white Christian Sweden. Interesting how things change over time, isn't it?

This black pastor was seriously suggesting that Sweden need a new revival. That today’s modern white people will benefit from having a direct dialog with God. Isn't that tickling?

I Love pictures like this one:

I have been to the English service in a Charismatic Church in Gothenburg in Sweden. There they have black pastors from Africa. I promise you, it is a lot more fun to go there then to go to the Swedish service. Sorry guys, but we Swedes have become boringly self-sufficient and spiritless.

  • You know what? In fact, blacks are better singers compared to the whites :P Yes, and the poor turn to God and are loyal followers of God but not many wealthy ones actually have time for God. Most and I am not saying all, thus eliminating the idea of making a sweeping statement, said that they believe in themselves more than anyone else including God. How sad!

  • Dear Daphne,
I see what you see. The people in the rich countries as Sweden (rich in the worldly meaning) are many times lonely and living in spiritual poverty. We are confused because we have forgotten the meaning of life. We are stuck in an ongoing hunt in trying to satisfy our own vanity. We are proud, vain and self-righteous. We don't worship God, we worship ourselves. When we do something good we say; "see how great I am".

Life is a gift; our special abilities are gifts from God, given to us for special reasons. But we have forgotten all that and we think we are superior even more superior than God!

Dwell on these word, they were written by a humble man.
    1 John 2:15-17

15: Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16: For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world.
17: The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.
